At BCIC, we continue to prioritize working with our education partners in order to facilitate the next generation workforce to support our current and prospective businesses in Bennington County. We thoroughly enjoyed working with the 7th grade class at Sacred Heart as part of this year’s Southshire Challenge. This is one of 11 Southshire Challenge’s currently underway matching student groups K-12 with private and non profit businesses.

Moreover, BCIC and our partners are deeply engaged in planning 2015’s version of the Sophomore Summit and Career Week. Stay tuned for more details.

BCIC would like to welcome President Elect David Rees Evans at Southern Vermont College and new CDC Superintendant Michael Lawler. BCIC has long standing relationships with SVC and the CDC and we look forward to enhancing those relationships with David and Michael.

BCIC would like to congratulate former Plasan Carbon engineer James Salerno for launching Shaftsbury based Hale Mountain Research. The new company specializes in design and prototyping services focused on composite parts and assemblies; as well as reverse engineering, CAD and CAE support, advanced composite material system development, and composite manufacturing facility planning. BCIC would also like to acknowledge Bruce Nelson and his team from Battenkill Technologies for doing a tremendous job mentoring James during the start-up process.

Global Z and Vermont Manufacturing Extension Center continue to engage in the process of earning an ISO 27001 certification for Global Z. The company may be the 1st software company in Vermont to earn this designation.

K&E Plastics and the Vermont Aerospace and Aviation Association continue to leverage a successful long term relationship. K&E has developed new relationships through this relationship and the company is currently engaged with a large aerospace OEM on a new opportunity.
